Terms of Service

These terms cover the StemmaFiles desktop application and this website, operated by the developer of StemmaFiles ("we"), reachable at contact@stemmafiles.com. By installing the app or buying a license you agree to them. They're written to be read — if anything is unclear, just ask.

The app and your data

StemmaFiles is a local, offline-first desktop application. Your family data is stored as plain files on your own computer — we never see it, host it, or hold a copy. You are responsible for your own backups (the app's built-in snapshot history and our sync & backup guide help).

Free trial

Every new install includes a 90-day free trial of the full application — no payment details required. After the trial, a license is required to keep using the app. Your files always remain readable plain text, license or not.

Buying a license

Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), who acts as the seller of record at checkout: Paddle handles payment, applicable VAT/sales tax, and invoices. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the transaction itself. Listed prices include VAT.

A license is a subscription (annual or monthly) for personal use by one person, activatable on up to 3 devices you use. It renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time via the Paddle customer portal (linked from your receipt) or by emailing us — the paid period keeps working until its end, with no further charges.

If a subscription lapses, the app allows a grace window of about 14 days for billing hiccups, then asks for a valid license again. Your files stay on your disk, readable in any text editor, and you can resubscribe whenever you like.

Please don't share license keys publicly, resell them, or interfere with the license mechanism. We may revoke keys that are abused or refunded.

Software provided "as is"

StemmaFiles is currently alpha software. To the maximum extent permitted by law, it is provided as is, without warranties, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer, including warranty rights under EU and Polish consumer law.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves; material changes will be dated here. Continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by Polish law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
