These terms cover the Oakbough Family desktop application and this website, operated by Adam Różański, an individual developer in Poland (not a company), reachable at contact@oakbough.com. By installing the app or buying a license you agree to them. They're written to be read — if anything is unclear, just ask.

Oakbough Family was called StemmaFiles until September 2026 (stemmafiles.com); licenses bought under that name remain valid.

The app and your data

Oakbough Family is a local, offline-first desktop application. Your family data is stored as plain files on your own computer — we never see it, host it, or hold a copy. You are responsible for your own backups — the app's built-in backups (Settings → Backups) and our Backups and safety guide help you with that.

The free version and the PRO trial

The core of Oakbough Family is free indefinitely — no data limits, nothing expires. The research features (the PRO pack) can additionally be tried free for 30 days by starting the trial inside the app — no payment details required. When the trial ends, PRO surfaces become read-only: the app never locks you out, and your files always remain readable plain text, license or not.

Buying a license

Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), who acts as the seller of record at checkout: Paddle handles payment, applicable VAT/sales tax, and invoices. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the transaction itself. Prices include VAT or sales tax where it applies; Paddle shows the final price at checkout.

A PRO license is a perpetual license bought once — there is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. It is for personal use by one person, activatable on up to 3 devices you use. It covers the current 0.x versions and the whole 1.x release line, including new 1.x features, and once activated it works offline indefinitely. When a Linux or macOS version ships, the same license covers it. A future major version (2.0) will be a separate, optional paid upgrade — with a discount for 1.x owners; 1.x releases will remain available to download.

Please don't share license keys publicly, resell them, or interfere with the license mechanism. We may revoke keys that are abused or refunded.

Software provided "as is"

Oakbough Family is in early access and under active development (0.x versions, before 1.0). To the maximum extent permitted by law, it is provided as is, without warranties, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer, including warranty rights under EU and Polish consumer law.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves; material changes will be dated here. Continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by Polish law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
